SUMITOMO HTR+Z...
I have Hankook RS2s 245/45-16 in the rears and I was looking at these on the TIRERACK as a replacement. Does anyone have (or had) them on their cars or have any experience with them? They are really cheap, I have seen the newer HTR III on the new Porsches and they look nice, but I'm wondering about these...

Considered them, but their ratings were not nearly as strong as the HTR ZIII. So I went with the HTR ZIII based on a relatively small price differential. Have been very satisfied.

I had them on an older Acura Integra. They were pretty nice on dry pavement, but not especially in the rain. I was actually surprised at how well they did (dry) especially considering the price.
Edit - I had the HTR Z, not the HTR+.

I guess I'll stick with my Hankooks, I've had them over 2 years and they have been phenomenal, only need the rears at this point, fronts have at least until the end of the year left on them...

I just bought a set of Sumitomo HTR Zs for my 16s. I use the 16s for auto-x and I need a cheap tire that is sticky, there is serious gravel where I auto-x. I just had them mounted today and the auto-x is a few days away. The sidewalls look pretty soft. I used to run the Hankook RS 2 and thought these would be better, but I will see. I have a set of 17'' 993 cup wheels for the street with Bridgestone RE-50 pole positions and they are very good street tires. Evidently matching 225/50/16 and 245/45/16s are hard to find these days.

Sumi HTRIII's out performed 3 name brand tires in latest track testing. Including a Potenza. I have the test results at work if you need them. A good looking tire too.

I am running HTR+ on my Audi, with the 17 inch wheels, and I am impressed with the 3000 miles or so I have on them, MUCH quieter than the old Michelins that were on it, STIFF side wall, excellent handling characteristics...
I would definitely recommend Sumis, and am considering them for the 951 when I shoe the twists...
Just be aware, each of the different HTR tires is just that, different..I believe the HTR-Z is the oldest of the tires, with HTR-III being the latest, but I could be wrong...

I got a pair of 225/245 Fuzion ZRisand they are working out great, I seem to like them better than the Hankook Ventus RS2 I had on before, much better grip in the rain and much easier to recover from after traction loss, better response in turn ins as well...looked at the Sumitomos, but didn't get convincing testaments from users.
It took you HOW MANY YEARS to buy the same tires we told you to buy?
ROFL.
Ya can't fix stupid.

I had the HTRZ on my Formula and hated them. When they were new, they were great - but that changed as they aged. They started to get hard at around 9 months and were cracked and chunking when they were about 2 years old. If these are short-term tires with the expectation that they will changed every year, then they would be a decent choice. Not that it matters, but the fronts were 275-40/17 and the rears were 315/35-17 mounted on Grand Sport A-molds and those tires were only for the street.
I went with Falen Azenis RT-615 on the 951 - recommended by a good friend of mine. I couldn't be happier with them and use them for both daily driving and autocross. We had them on our LeMons car and one set lasted the entire weekend. I can't say enough good things about these tires - too bad they don't make them in a 17" 315

The sumitomo htr z suck for autocross. They started chunking on the first autocross I used them, which was on Sunday. The sumitomos are alright for street driving, just very unresponsive. I am fortunate enough to be able to put on my 17''s with RE50 pole positions and the car feels like another car. autocross video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9vwDnFNsUI
There was a 964 C4 there on hoosiers, coilovers, and 3.9l engine. He was able to run away from everybody else.

It's not that it took me that long moron, it's that the Hankooks lasted over 2 and a half years and I don't recall ever reading you advising me to buy them, an educated buyer does research and not only goes by what others say to make a final decision, try it sometime...
