yeah i heard the same thing from some of my customers. Its terrible for the owner he spent SO much money disigning the track on his personal cash. it was a good idea but i dont think he got the word out to enough people. all the turns mimic the best parts of some tracks worldwide.

As for the powder coating the guy i know is across the river i just give him all my stuff and he does it for almost nothing. 150$ for a set of wheels and everything steel in the engine bay (like 50+ asssorted thing, valvecover, intake ect.)

Thanks I think I might check out the place in White PLains or Mamaroneck. I had a great place to do powdercoating in NH where I used to live, but its a bit of a hike to get back and forth from there now

I'm hoping to get a few more underhood parts powdercoated

yeah...although i think if he can retain ownership but just change the business model, I won't feel too bad for him.

It sucks that his business (which was targeted at people who make 6 figure discretionary purchases) opened right around when a lot of the target audience (wall st bigshots who like cars) lost their 6-7 figure bonuses...

It is a $125K initiation fee and $9K for yearly dues. That may be a tad bit steep for us 951 folks, unless we can get a group buy thing going?

just saw this posted over on the racing / DE forum - looks like all is well

"Hi Gents,

I want to assure you this is not accurate. Monticello is well capitalized and has the means to weather the storm we are all experiencing. By the way, as in 2008, I have opened the club to PCA events and you should look for announcements regarding opportunities for additional track time at MMC. I hope DanR will spread the word.

Thanks guys "

You guys are so lucky with all the tracks you have at your disposal. I'm jealous.

There seems to be quite a bit of conjecture re powder coating wheels. Some say it damages the wheel during the process and can permanently weaken it, plus if you do get cracks it's harder to see. Having said that I've just got mine done. Hope they're ok. I'm certainly happy with their appearance

Yes the Enkeis come with a great rep of Cost, lightness, strength, and looks. We'll be doing another fitting with the slicks tomorrow and then to the track on the 18th.

As far as prep goes, I understand mine were sandblasted Reno? I have heard that due to the nature of the heat treating application there is a question mark over whether it has some permanent weakening of the metal, but also being all black may disguise cracks and make them harder to see. I've just had to replace 3 rims on my other wheels due to splitting or warping. Not cheap either.

For now we will use the Falkens. They're just so stupidly cheap at @$335 v's over $800 for Michelins. 285/30x18"

Mamaroneck or white plans wouldn't be bad.
I'll try one of them
Thanks
Just saw this, but there is a place in Danbury CT which is about 15 minutes from Somers called Chem-tron,Phone is: 203-743-5131 ask for Mike he owns the place. They do good work and reasonably priced depending on colors and lead time. They also do anodizing.
We use them for painting and powder coating on some of our fabrication parts.Ed.
