I have an '86 LSD Transmission on my 951, and I have had Amsoil MTG 75W90 on it for the last 2 years. I am thinking about trying Redline MT90 since most Rennlisters use it and praise it, and since I can't find Amsoil anywhere around right now, what do you all recommend for an LSD 5 speed?
I found a local dealer in Plantation, he has 3 quarts of the Amsoil MTG he is going to sell me today, I'm sticking with what I know to work best...hey EHALL, are you ever going to post a even a single pic of your car, AT LEAST on your avatar???

MT-90 is not what you want to use in the 944 transaxle - you need a GL-5, which is their 75W-90. This also contains the limited slip friction modifier you need.
Totally unrelated but I had my son's 4WD truck worked on recently and they replaced the manual trans fluid with MT90. Ever since then the car whines in 5th and pops out of gear in first and 4th sometimes. I've used it on every other car I've owned but I guess the Ford 5-spd trans hates it for some reason.
He should be okay with the MT-90. He lives in a VERY hot part of Florida. Even in winter he doesn't see many days as low as 45*F
MT-90 is not right for 2 reasons - 1. It does not have the extreme pressure additive necessary for the hypoid gear in the 944 trans, which is even more critical in the Turbo given the fact that it makes about 100 ft-lbs more than an N/A 944....will a GL-4 work? Yes. Will a GL-5 work better? Yes.
2. MT-90 does not have the limited slip friction modifier already in it. He would need to purchase that separately and figure out the necessary mixture on his own which, given the original question, I would not feel confident in his ability to do so correctly.
