Default CO2 test port question

I'm attempting to crimp the L. Petersen EGT probe into the test port on my crossover but the threads on the clamp nut don't quite meet those of the bung. I looked at an old crossover I had laying around and on it the threads go right to the top. Does anyone know if there are different versions of the test ports? I'm hoping it's just a piece of the CO2 tube that I can yank outta there but I figured I better ask first.

The top of the bung does look a little strange from what I have seen, as if an extra piece has been added on and it does not look as a part of the CO2 tube. So let’s start the analysis:

Is there a 3/16” hole in the bung into the pipe for the sensor, or was this piece added to block the flow?

Does the nut start threading without the ferrule?

If yes to the above, does the ferrule fit part of the way into the hole?

Thanks for the reply Laust,
I got impatient the other night and pulled out the vice grips (only bad things happen when you go digging in the vice grip/adjustable wrench drawer). After some minor persuation the piece in the picture came loose. It was indeed a ferrule for something...and was removed w/o any distruction. Truthfully I've never seen a 951 w/ a test tube still installed so I don't know if was an OE piece. I've seen a bunch of creative and uncreative "bandaids" over the test port though so this could be something a PO had put on there.

Anywho, EGT probe went w/o a hitch once the ferrule was removed.

Thanks!
