how do you tell if your 88 951 is an "S"

The gussets picture are the best way to determine if the tub is an S. It is not too hard to make S using parts, but only rarely are the gussets also installed. Now just because it has the gussets does not mean the PO might have replaced the K26/8 with K26/6 or replaced other S parts with easier to find and cheaper non S stuff.

M758 is offical option code for a Turbo S, but it seems many left the factory without it. My S did not have M758 listed, but does have M030, M220 etc.

Dude, the ONLY way to tell is by the Club Sport wheels. That, or if the p/o tells you it is.
Those are the only REAL ways to tell.

Between these two threads you can compile a thorough summary and use it as a check list. That way you'll know if it is an S, or yet remains an S intact.
