I suppose those Honda rods you are referring at are much younger.

Are they made by Rosten ?

The failure appears to be from too much RPM and high bearing temps ............

Same rod length's. Don't remember piston pin height though.
Stroke is 88 mm vs 78.9 mm so the just by putting the rods in a 3.0l engine they're subjected to much greater stress.

Speaking of bent rods... where's the piece of missing rod?

The other thing, which would seem more like a logical explanation... with respect to a possible hydrolock, would be catastrophic head gasket failure. Now we're talking about enough fluid to easily hydrolock a cylinder big time ... which could potentially only show itself on one cylinder.
The rest of the rod shattered and is spread out in tiny pieces. Look at the first pictures again and you will see small pieces of the rod everywhere.
The headgasket (MLS) was intact and it did not seem to be any coolant in the crankcase/sump.

No, rpm's didn't have time to run away.
The engine actually never ran at 1.8 bar so to speak.
I never realised it was an overboost until afterwards when I started investigating things.
In 3rd gear at WOT the boost needle swung so fast it was ridiculous at at the very same time I felt boost hit - I mean exactly when it hit, not a moment aftwards - the engine broke.

No, they are Finnish made PO-Metal rods.

Compared to two different 951 rast designs

951 rods under manufacturing process

Duke that was when the Rod failed , not necessarily when it was damaged , it does appear you have been piling on the revs before .................
