Here's my project car I've cut up pretty well...the roof is still in tact if anyone wants to make an offer. IT was removed the right way by drilling out the welds.

Umm... because the "existing hole filler" is plastic... And, even after years of practice, I'm still not capable of welding metal to plastic!

For those that are interested, the roof edge (the rain gutter) is different on the '83 vs the '88 - also the area above the windshield looks a little different. In general, I think a 924 roof would work, because it should have the same basic curve. The 924s and early 944s have a lot in common.

Don't worry - I have had the luxury of just taking an entire sunroof apart!

It's an injection molded part that has aluminum stiffening ribs epoxied to it.

Speaking of that, I have sunroof parts for sale if anyone needs...

So how does that get affixed to the roof? Glue?

I need a latch. Passenger side if it matters.

I see the pivots with updated metal pins on several sites...but no latches. My guess is PO broke the pivot and stored the latch for safe keeping. I'll prolly get the updated pivot if I can find a latch.
