Default antenna in fender?

Did any 951's come with the antenna in the fender - or aerial in the front wing if you are from the UK, which this car is? It is first registered in Jan 1986, so it is a pretty early 951.

Or has someone bodged a phase 1 944 wing in there as a repair sometime in the past?

Thanks!

Outside the US, a Wing is a Front Fender Panel. A Quarter only refers to the Rear.

Check the Front corner edging to see if it has been machined to match the different cover that the Turbos have versus a NA Bumper.

I don't believe so. My 951 has a build date of 7/85 and it does not. I think only early 944s 82-85.5 had a front fender mounted antenna.

I did read that thread - and didn't see many cars with a aerial (antenna) in the wing (fender), but on the first page the red race car has a mark on the wing where the antenna may be, and the white race car has a definite black mark on the fender. Both of these are on the left hand/drivers side - the car I'm looking at is on the right hand/drivers side.

Are the 951 fenders (and plastic lining) slightly wider than the early 944 fenders?

I used to have a '84 944 (in my avatar) that had one antenna in the fender and one on the roof - and still didn't get reception!
