I have a 220mph custom speedo made and calibrated by North Hollywood Speedo. Hard to take your eyes off the road at that speed. I even tried to take a pic cause I didn't think anyone would believe me but for some reason my body didn't listen to me and when I let go with one hand to take the pic, my foot kinda lifted off the pedal and it clicked the pic at 189 and it was all blurry.

If you guys want to find out, don't speculate. quit typing, take your car out and find out by yourself. That's what I did. I'm not smart enough to calculate the ****. I just had enough ***** to find out. I think that makes me a sandwich short of a picnic but I know what my car really does. Do you?
Ioften see your 194mph claim, how did you measure it? Just off your speedo or did you use a gps?

194mph is possible with 480whp. IIRC, with the right gears, and correct situations...450-475whp will get you to 200mph.

It calculates out close.
With his tire model and size (you can find a lot on the internet)
Calculated by manufacture stated diameter: 6837 RPM
Calculated by manufacture stated rotations per mile: 7057 RPM

Joe, Do you run 21psi day in/day out and is that on pump gas? Just curious - thx.

I don't doubt that at the 480whp level he has the power for it. Why I ask about GPS is because of wheel slip at those speeds. He should be loosing a minimum of 3% to wheel slip. So while his tires are rotating at a speed to go 194mph, he is really only going 188mph or less, and I would think with only little 265s he is losing much more than 3%.

Tms951, I did it only with my speedometer. It is a newly calibrated 220mph speedo from North Hollywood. I don't know how to do any calculations whatsoever, but I wanted to know what it would do. So I just went out and did it. On the slippage, I don't know if you are referring to the grip at that speed but I've done it a couple of times at top speed and I actually ran over my AIR splitter once at about 184-186. Not exactly sure as I was still accelerating. It wasn't attached securely enough and I ran over it. I had no idea I ran it over till I got home. Thought I ran over an object in the road or something like a piece of tire. The car was so secure. There was so much downforce, if I didn't do it myself, I would say I'd be airborn if that happened. As soon as I ran over it, it came slamming slamming back down to the pavement after it slapped hard against my suspension. These things have way more downforce than you'd think. It didn't want to lift at all.

On whether the car can do it or not, just come on out and we'll go for a spin. A couple guys who aren't on here too much anymore went for a ride and we were on our way and they said that it was fast enough for them so I backed off. They had no question it could do it. Christian and PeteNJ can chime in if they read this. No bid deal for me whether you believe or not. I just went out and did it and that's what the speedo said. Could the speedo be off? Sure. Maybe it was 193 or 195. Still ****in fast...

SamGrant951, I run 21 psi all day long on race fuel. 100 octane. You can buy it out here at the pump. It's never seen anything but race fuel. Runs like a champ. Only bad thing is the Autothority chips. A set of Vitesse chips and the car is a 500whp car all day long. It ran so rich on the dyno it went off the graph. Still put out 480 to the wheels.

On a side note, I ran into an investment opportunity that I'm about $13,000 short to get in on. I may have a fire sale and sell my motor to the first guy to pull up with $13,000. Steal of a deal. I paid $40,000 for it. Only 14,500 miles. I'll post it if I decide or someone gets to me with the $ before I post.

hmmm........ I dunno about that. I would say 500hp minimum if you have a very slippery/sleek aero setup and ideal gearing, and more like 650+hp to get it done in a car pushing a lot of air. Lots of 500-600hp cars can't get it done at Bonneville. There are some additional considerations on the salt, but 200MPH is a long way from 190. The amount air air resistance grows proportionally.

And if you want to do it in a short distance you need to make BIG power. I watched a twin turbo sbc powered viper run 203mph in the standing mile last year. He was making 1075hp. Talked at length with another guy with a heavily worked zo6 - he figured he was making an honest 750hp - he ran a best of 189mph in the standing mile.

I'm not trying to Bob but if someone pops up with it, it's gone. I want to get in on this opportunity. Sucks. I have more in parts than I'm asking. We'll see

I'm kinda glad this thread went dead. I just couldn't believe everyone was still talking about calculations. Just go out and do it. Then post what you did. I didn't want to try and calculate. But I wanted to know too. Just like all of you. So i just went out and did it. Not a big deal. Just big cajones. If you cross your legs when you sit down, you won't be able to do it. lol. I never did quite understand how anyone could do that.

My 911TS, 530 bhp @ crank did 327km/h on the speedo. The rev limiter then kicked in at 6750rpm's. For 944 to do it you need 6th gear or longer 5th gear ratio @ 7000rpm and about 560 bhp @ crank as drag co is 0.33 versus 0.31 for the 911. My 320 bhp 944 TS topped out at 270 km/h.

Dfastest is about there - 200mph with a bit of wind behind his back quite possible. ;-).

320bhp 944 only doing 168mph? Seems a little slow.

My '87 951 showed a speedo indicated 163mph at around 6200rpm. 238whp/248wtq (about 260/280bhp). No doubt that I could have approached 170 had I stayed in to it.

Just tonight my girlfriend was talking to me and wants me to try and top the '87 out when it has its new slew of goodies. I told her topping it out meant pushing to almost 180 mph. She simply said "I don't care. Don't be a *****!"...

Joe- You truly do have some huge *****. Going that fast in a car that gets there fast, isn't bad. Going that fast in a car that takes a little bit, is lol. Props to you though! I guess it's a one time deal. Do it, know you'e done it...and never do it again! haha

CarbonRevo, sounds like your girls a keeper.

I don't know if it was ***** or stupidity cause I tried it more than once. One time I ran out of road. Another time, my splitter ripped off at about 185 or so and my girl was in the car with me. Scared us and I haven't done it since. Go do it before your ***** grow brains.

My calculations with 265/35-18 and 7000 rpm with a stock 951 gearbox gives 302,3 km/h (187.8 mph).

200 mph needs 7455 rpm with 265/35-18
