tone...was it a charcoal grey one and sold up in Maine somewhere if so it's the one in my back yard. My friend bought it back in 04 and we were out at VIR having some fun when he spon a bearing in it. He didn't no long wanted it because it was not comparable to my 951 (was stock then) and I bought it from him and rebuilt it ...now all it needs is a radiator but the car truly is not a priority to me every now and then i tinker with it.

Yep, they posted pics of the paperwork in the auction too. I remember the rebuild as one of there selling points specifically now that you mention it. Cant believe this jackass wants 60k. Pffft. Sad part is some guy might buy it. Then realize he was dooped.

Yes, Callaway turbocharged early 944s before Porsche made the 951
First factory made 944 turbos were built in 1983.

Here's one early example which can be seen at Sinnsheim tecnical museum. It's an early body, interior etc with n/a brakes etc.

The ebay car has the Callaway turbo induction system, but it could easily be one of the kits sold. You can spot the wastegate above the exhaust manifold near the firewall. To my knowledge the Callaway 944's that were built in Old Lyme, CT at the Callaway factory had the 924 CGT hood scoop inistalled on the hood and they had Callaway emblem badges behind the rear quarter window glass above where the fuel filler cap is (but on both L and R sides).

I have a Callaway 944 Turbo and there is no way a stock 951 would beat it. The Callaway cars had 285hp at 10psi when built in 1983 and could build boost as early as 1400rpm.

I would love to get 60k for my car but I know it is not worth that much. I would hope for a third of that +/- a few thousand. It is just all in the eye of the beholder, or wanter.

While mine is powered by a TEC2 EMS I still have the original BOSCH Microfueler that was used to control the 5th fuel injector to compensate for the additional air flow plus I still have the original TB pipe that has "Callaway" cast into it.

I've been under a Callaway 928 turbo and it was not well constructed at all, frankly I was surprised. The headers were horrible. Motor had been blown during street use.

There was a former Rennlist member on the 928 boards named John Kuhn...hell of smart guy and he had a Callaway 928TT. He ended up developing custom twin turbo kits for the 928 that out performed the Callaway setup. I had gotten some documents from him regarding the IHI RHB6 turbo that was used on bothe the Callaway 944 and 928.

I had also seen another up close from a local plastic surgeon. Never got under it though.
