Default Starter issue

I did some searching and couldn't find anything.

The problem is the car will turn over maybe once or twice, and then it will stop with a clunk, and then turn over once or twice again and then stop with a clunk but would start on the second clunk, well at least it did yesterday. While the starting and stopping was happening I had to key turned the whole time. This morning in the 22 degree air I was getting no where and decided to drive the exploder.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Tom

Not 100% sure on the battery in the car, but when I jumped it to my Explorer which has a 850 CCA battery and was running it did the same thing.

After removing the starter again I found a crack in the housing at tthe post for the main power. I also inspected my other starter and it too had a crack. I have a life time warranty on the starter so it will be replaced today, I will post another update after I have the new one in.

I believe it is the starting feature on battery chargers that fry the dme.
