I'd have to agree with RPH and EHall. Sure if that's what you want (16v) and you've got the cash then go for it. How many of us have driven a 951 with even 450whp? I'm guessing traction is a big player once you get up there. There's been a 2.5L 16v recently that has got some good results. Their 16v 2.5ltr made 535rwhp at 13psi and 645 at 18psi both runs stopped at 7krpms. This is a track car though and this is where that improved breathing is going to be measurable. By no means is this vital for a street car.
Nice if you can go for it though. |

That sounds sick... we want more details :) I suspect it's a fairly high revving machine...

Hey Chris, I tried emailing you my bulid sheet from my AOL account, did you get it successfully?

400whp & torque is too much for pretty much any street tire. - my experience.
I really want the 11:1 compression 16v boosted 3.0 for the instant torque between turns. I rode in a 3 liter at TWS and the mid range was so much damn stronger. he was able to make quick pops of acceleration betweens short straights in between turns. My car felt dead compared to his in those places. And also I need to compensate for something. I think Markus showed us all how well a Stock 16v takes to boost. I think his only failure was not changing out to a large skirt, thicker ring land turbo piston.. His eventual failure was his stock pistons. I only plan on changing out the rods and pistons. - Add turbo, stir - dinner is served. - Well, the Motec, Baller intake, and custom header will help out a bit. - hummm.. someday. |

I'm impressed! Any other details? Good luck on your 3 liter build, by the way. I would suggest a bit more reading on current running motors before I decided what type of piston/cylinder/sleeve/etc. to use. I would go for the most used and track tested, not just one time dyno engines. There are plenty of threads on grenaded motors. I'm sure you value your money, I'd hate to see you make the same mistake as others. Best of luck to you, I hope things happen as quickly as they can for you. There's been plenty of never ending projects, you wouldn't want to be another victim. Take care. |
535WHP at 13psi is very amazing, granted. Hope we can see the dyno sheet one day??? ;)
