Maybe Porsche was referring to the LS1 conversions.

I have run 20w50 in my 951 for over 10 years. Some of that time saw track use with little use lately.

However I live were summer is 110-120F and winter is 50F on really cold day. Given the heat out here I will only run 20w50 oil in my 951 even on street.

Yeah, I think this conversation often takes place without folks talking about the normal weather conditions of their locations. It almost never gets to 20* F where I live. Hell, it hardly ever get's below freezing and Summers are HOT!
