Default so im putting my engine back together and ran into a little trouble

I bought a block from a 88 Porsche turbo s. The block didnt come with the oil cooler. So im replacing the oil cooler with the one off my car and that was a 87 turbo. the problem is that the blot hat sticks out of the oil cooler with the O ring does no slid into the new block. Any imput?

Do i need to source a bolt from a turbo S?

thats as far as it goes in :/

Does it appear that there's a sleave on the block that makes the hole smaller? Last, how certain are you that this is a S block? If no sleave and it's def. an S block then allignment may be your issue.

That looks like the updated oil pressure relief valve... very good. One less thing to worry about.
Loosen the housing bolts and reinstall the OPR.

What are the block stampings on the drivers side of the motor near the flywheel end. Also, the oil cooler is loose from the block still correct?

M44.51 is a non turbo S block. Are you sure the 6 isn't a G. If I am remembering correctly, 1986 is a G code, H is a 1987 and so on. Usually the engine serial starts with 45, then a letter indicating the year, then the rest of the number. Sounds like you might have a 1986 turbo block, in which case you need to use the earlier style OPRV.

I just check a spare 86 turbo block I am building the the garage. Code M44.51, and the 3rd digit is a G.

Nah, you just need to find an early style valve now. Did you have the balance shafts apart? If you are building the motor from scratch, make sure you used the 1986 balance shaft bearings as the covers and bearings changed in 1987. If you didn't touch that part of the motor, or didn't replace the bearings, then disregard.

wait so if this is a early block... why did the balance shaft delete from the late model car work for this one?

The 3rd digit in the serial number I am guessing is a G (It should be a letter, not a number), not a 6 if you look close, would would indicate it is a 1986 turbo block. Also, I am guessing there is no auto tensioner for the timing belt on the front side, which would also indicate it is a 1986. That would also explain why there is a sleeve in the block for the OPRV, and why the later style OPRV won't fit.
