Default Porsche Cup 1 Rim / Tire Sadness… ***(lots of photos)***

So I picked up a set of Cup 1 rims for my car. I paid a good bit of money to get them mounted with some nice Goodyear F1 tires. The rims are 17" and staggered (wider in the rear)...

After putting them on my 1987 951 I noticed they stuck out about an inch on all sides... I ignored that (big mistake). I pulled the car out of the garage and didn’t make it 10ft before I heard a "crunch"

The rear tires got caught in the fenders ... I cut deep into 1 perfectly nice and expensive tire and sliced a good 1cm x 1mm section of the other...

I am still recovering (this happened 2 hours ago). I realize I am an idiot and prob. got the wrong offset. I am putting these rims on eBay and selling them for a loss... Can someone give me a heads up on what offset I have and what offset I need?

Does anyone out here have the right offset for my 1987 951? Does anyone want to buy the current setup I have?

Here are some pictures taken with my camera phone (sorry for the bad quality):

My old rims...

I should have never tried to take it out of the garage

the damage: lesser of the 2 damaged tires (1cm thick, 1mm deep, 10cm long slice)

the damage: the badly cut rear tire (2cm deep, 20cm long, wire exposed, still holds air, may be unsafe to ride on)

And more pictures:

Ok Hold on. You have lift in your garage,.!? And your buying used wheels.
Alright that aside. I think that you want an offset of 55. The inside of the rear wheels should have the offset listed. looks like.. maybe 47? did fronts & rears rub?

Yes that is a car lift, but why put new rims on a 22 year old car? Thanks for the help on the offset, both the rears and the fronts stuck out. I will check the offset on mine tomorrow before I post them on eBay.

Those appear to be early offset, 23mm, Cup replicas. They would stick out just like that on a late offset car. Ouch! Late cars in 87/88 came with Phone Dials standard, in the correct offset for that model year.

I have a set od uf Cup II's (PORSCHE OEM NOT KNOCK-OFF'S) that are going up for sale today. They are the correct offset for your car. Just bolt-on and go

They are the ones on my car in the Avatar

ya those have to be early offsets. the et's your looking for are around 55 in the front and 47 in the rear. at least in the replicas. you shouldnt have any rubbing or poking issues with the correct set.

I have a set of 18" cup II replicas in the correct offset and a set of factory 17" cup II in the correct offset if you are interested.
Perhaps we could trade? I can use them on my 86 951.
