Default Paint type?

On a 86 951, what kind of paint was used? BCCC, single stage, laquer? I've got a repair to do and would like to put the same stuff back on if possible. Also, would I just go to the paint store and tell them I need "Porsche L90E" and get the right thing, or would they need more than that?

It depends on the specific paint. Some colors were single stage, others were not. The factory paint was Glasurit. You will have to find someone who uses it, mostly high end or classic auto rebuilders. To be honest it's a nice paint but there are plenty of more commonly used paints/clears that are just as good. Standox is good stuff.

As long as it matches the current paint for sheen, color, and durability, I'd use any good brand. I want the repair to disapear(obviously) and match the rest of the car. I'd hate to have to respray the entire car because everything else is in great shape, other than the qtr pnl.

What color is the car?

Really being able to blend it well depends on the condition and type of paint you have on there now, as well as the technicians skill and knowledge.

Alpine White is single stage, no clear coat.
