Default 1989 944 Turbo For Sale

1989 Porsche 944 Turbo

UPDATE: GETTING RID OF THE CAR FOR 6K. However the head gasket may have been blown. I made the mistake of putting a stock one and my boost spiked up to 20lbs. Car is running.

The reason I am selling this car is to buy a rally car. This car has been a love/hate
relationship with me. I have been buying parts and installing new stuff on it since I got it.
I am looking to buying a Ford Focus Rally Car (I know, I know) and this is the reason Im selling this
car. The price of the car I want is 10,900. My asking price for the car is 6000. I bought the car
2 years ago for 14k so I am taking a huge loss for hopefully a fast sell. Let me know if you have any
questions or concerns. Thanks.

First for the bad:

1) Car is super loud. I dont have a muffler on at this point but I like it loud.
2) A/C needs to be recharged but it has been converted to the newer system.
3) Takes 2-3 times to start car when its cold. I also have to hold the gas down for about
30 seconds to let the car warm up. This could be an easy fix but Im no mechanic.
4) I have to tap the oil pressure section on the gauge cluster for it to start reading. I
have bought a new gauge cluster but have not installed it.
5) the car has 190k miles on it but the new engine has only 25-28k on it.

New items just put on car:

SPEC Stage 2 Clutch w/ lightweight option: $856.00 ($65.00 for New Hardware)

Too high for that mileage IMO. Also the A/C not working and open exhaust might dissuade some.

From what I've heard parting the car will make your more money, but you have to spend the time to ship and collect. Its too bad that you're selling your car. If you want a rally beater, get an old subaru 2.5RS and do a little tune job to get a basic wrx, or buy a mazda 323 awd. Those are rare, but made good rally cars back in the day. Rallying is fun. Enjoy...

PLEASE ... can somebody post some stunning 951 pics to inspire our fellow Rennlister to ensure he doesn't sell his car

Loose them rims, give it a good detail and stand back and look at your new supercar

In this market mate it's not the time to sell but the time to enjoy

ok I can get all the issues that I mentioned above fixed but Im just pointing them out because thats the state the car is in. I also have the stock rims and tires. Im open to offers as well but would need close to the asking price. Might end up parting the car but time is an issue as well.

I've parted a 944 turbo or two and I don't think you would get your asking price by taking the car apart in this market - especially on a car with that high of miles. If I were you I would try to put the car back to stock - sell off the mods seperate and you would probably do alright. There may be folks on the board that would trade you stock parts and some cash for your stuff. Be sure to post it up everwhere then - PCA website, pelican, craigslist, autotrader.....

just wanted to start this off as not bashing this guy for trying too get good money for the car.

but love it when people post all the mods they have done too the car with prices like anyone actually cares what it all costs too do it all. honestly if you think about it the miles and the mods = engine has been beat(beat as in races dynoed ect). This is just what it is you cant be expected to get your money back for the mods or try and perceive these cars as a good deal. they just arent. you dont buy this car too get your money back or too save money you buy it too spend money and thats it.

I didnt buy this car to get my money back. Its a money pit and I knew that before I bought the car. If anyone has a reasonable offer then I will look at it.

Not trying to drown your hopes but...I wouldn't recommend parting it right now. I'm not sure if it's the season or the economy but prices are horrible for alot of the parts. You'll sell the high demand parts pretty quick, but 70% of the car will sit in your garage for a few months. I've sold rear spoilers in the past for $250 and now I can't get $150. I tried to sell a complete Cabriolet top for $350 that would cost $1500 from DC auto stripped and it didn't sell. I did sell a 3.0 ltr engine for $2500 but that was $1000 under the nearest price! Not to mention the all of the small parts that you will have to give away at $5-10 just to get rid of them. Don't part it...you'll regret it.
If you still have the factory parts, put them back on and sell the car as factory set up and then sell the aftermarket parts separately, it's the best way to get the most right now.
Good luck, if I had the cash I'd make an offer but I have my own money pit killing me right now.

very nice looking 951. one of my favorites
I think the price is fair since you have obviously put a couple grand into her!
Good luck On the Sale!!

If you do part, I am interested in the hard pipes, fog lights and clear turn lenses and the oil canister thing.
