How many of you are driving the 951 over the winter!

I was running 215/55/16 snow tires last season. They are extremely squirmy. I had a pucker moment on the expressway one night last year. Was going about 75mph (keeping up with traffic) and in an instant i had to get on the brakes very hard. I could literally feel the front end swaying back and fourth because of the huge tread blocks on the snow tires (Which were basicay new, at full depth making matters worse).
I really wish my car had LSD though. There were a few times last year where i was stopped on an uphill waiting for a light in some deep, fresh powder. As i engage 1st, the rear end starts to side step a little to the right, right rear tire just spins. Eventually it catches and trucks up the hill no problem. Still a very white knuckle moment when you have a ton of traffic behind you!
Truthfully i dont mind driving the car in the snow, but i really just dont trust other people on the road.

Only in good weather above 45 degrees F. Otherwise, I will be driving my Mustang or Jeep. Sliding around or getting stuck in snow is not desirable. Also, if somebody hits the Mustang or Jeep my insurance will replace them. I would take a bath if somebody hit the 951. The 951 is an escort cup car and is fairly rare. I doubt if any insurance company would pay me more than $10k if it were totalled.

This whole topic depresses me - winter takes the joy of 5 of my favorite things away from me for 5 months (951 included).
I need to move.

When I lived in the northeast, I used Vredestein snow and ice tires 205/55-16 and 225/50-16s. The car is great in the snow. Oodles better than any pre-2000 rwd BMW. I can't stand the torque steer of fwd in snow. Yeah AWD is best, but I would and did drive my 944, '91 Targa, '97 993TT and my 2003 Ruf 3600s in the snow. They are cars; they are transportation and a heck of a lot of fun....

Hell no! My car hasn't even seen rain in 20 years, seriously. I have to admit though, some of those pics of the cars in the snow is pretty cool, especially Rich Sandors fog pic. Very cool to know our cars can handle anything.

Now that it's winter, I just got my TurboS back on the road. The near 80 mile round trip daily commute and fuel prices have put me on my Ducati Monster or DRZ400SM rain or shine since late April until last Thursday in W. Michigan. I ran Blizzaks last winter with mismatched fronts, handling was scary but with LSD went through most anything. Main bummer is when the drifts come over the hood, plug your headlights and cover the windshield. When on four wheels any day in a 951 is a good day! bill

Yep, I'll be driving my car over the winter, lol.
Having a black car, with no tinted windows, living in Texas, 110 plus degrees in summer, no rain and very mild winters with no ice or snow. Yes, I WILL be driving my car this winter
