Default Alternative accelerator pedal?

While tearing apart my interior, I ended up breaking both of the studs that hold down the accelerator pedal. I'm not very fond of the stock pedal setup where it goes through the carpet and would like to find something different. Has anyone come up with something better that is suspended from the linkage instead of attached to the floor?

I've been looking at the Rennline adjustable throttle pedal that's coming out next month - I think I can use it with what's left of the studs, but I really would like to get rid of the floor mount. Not to mention, a 4-pc set would be $350 - kind of steep. I'm not sure if I'd get the dead pedal or not though ($300 without it).

I thought about having a simple "spoon" type pedal welded to the linkage, but it would be very difficult to heel-toe.
