Anyone using a SPEC Stage 3 Full Metallic clutch?
If so what's it like to use?
Does it chatter in traffic?
Your experiences would be appreciated. My 3.2 project nears completion and with a host of SFR bits and Electromotive standalone I´m hoping for power and torque outputs quite close to those of George´s motor. Initially I was advised to fit a new cup kit which was fitted when the trans and motor went in. After reading Paul Smith´s report on his 3.2 with cup slipping after 4k rpm I´m seriously considering ripping it out before the car´s fired up and selling it on "as new".
The Spec seems on the face of it to fit my requirements of:
1. high torque capability
2. fairly good street usability
If anyone is using one what sort of flywheel are you using?
Thanks
Mike R

I guessed that from Paul´s posting. I was initially advised that it would be adequate, but it would transpire that this was not correct.
There must be someone out there using the Spec Stage3 Full Metallic.

How about a Kep II with a solid face disc? This is what I'll be trying and will be in the high hp/tq neighborhood. After that, you're looking at a 6 puck clutch which hold great but are pretty ordinary in traffic or reversing.

I have the SPEC Stage 3 Full Metallic clutch.
It works great, no chatter at all, softer than my Spec 2 I had before. I have had several clutches before but this is best so far. I have 600/530+ hp/tq and no problems.

^^The Don comes in from the cold! Corleone, how are you and your car going?
Wonder why the Stage 3 clutch is more civilised than the Stage 2?

My car is working great so far. Fast and brutal. 100-200 km/h at 6.3 seconds. There will be some winter upgrades. Full roll cage, new turbo, modified cooling system and some 50 more hp...

Corleone,
Thanks so much for your feed back. I´d read very carefully everything I could about the various clutches that were available and this one stood out to me as a pretty good all round package. What flywheel are you running it with?
Cheers
Mike

So is that 100-200kmh time from 100kmh or just flat out and through the 100kmh out and through the 200kmh? Sorry about the OT. Sounds like this clutch might work for some?

I have the spec stage 3+ clutch. Havent put it on the car yet but I've heard a lot of good things about it. The most important thing is to break it in properly.

I have the steel one from Lindsey!

Its through out and passing, measuring is in the speed log of the stand alone as I have a calibrated speed signal.

It's not so much the hp that hurts mine it's the huge dollops of low down torque from the 3.2 that overcomes it.
It's good to hear you are nearly ready Mike. I am having a KEP2 pressure plate with 930 disk fitted this week which should be good for 600ftlb. I'll let you know how it feels.
My only experience with SPEC was a stage 2 in a friends 350hp car. I hated it's on/off feel though he now states that after 10k miles it has bedded in to be much easier to control
