the guy im working with said hes been looking over the engine and said that it need a block guard too stop cylinder shifting and headgasket failure. do they make one, where can i get it?

 

CEP (Custom Engineered Performance) does I think.

 

It's a bit pricey. Not like your $100 Honda block guard. So much that you should consider sleeving it instead.

Well you can have both. Dry sleeved with deckplate. As for $100, nothing to see here, move away please....

firsty i asked CEP yes its big money but a big job he preps the block and fits it .
o ringing the deck and head is one option to try to reduce bore movement and any good machine shop should be able to just put little bits of aluminum in the right spots grout is another schools out on how effective

 

when you grout the block is it possible to grout the top section of the cylinders?

 

If you're creative you can fill out the space in the lower section with something you can wash out and then apply filler at the top.

 

Pricey? lets compare apples to apples, IF there was 2 billion 944t's built perhaps the price could come down. Realizing we are not driving Honda's, I think the price is pretty fair, considering the amount of R&D to eliminate failure and the limited amount of buyers involved.

 

Its all relative. my point isn't that its OVERPRICED. Its that the cost is high enough that anyone should consider just going that litke bit extra and sleeving. the difference in sleeved Honda's and block guard is 10x's difference. Difference between those on this engine is less than only double. So why not just sleeve. I'm trying to upsell 4 you! Nothing else

Oh, no worries. You are right, the cost to add liners at that point is not a big deal but, In reality, the Alusil bores and headgaskets do ok when they are not moving around. They don't take blow ups like Steel liners but they are much lighter than steel.
