Default Spent over 18 hours driving the 951 this weekend.

Joined the KCWS for Renntreffen this past weekend down at the Lake of the Ozarks and had a fantastic time! We spent over 18 hours in the car driving in a little over 2 days.

As much as I love these cars I just don't think that long distance driving is their forte. I feel like I've taken a pounding!

I drove 16 (8+8) back and forth for the Fest. With the sport seats it's the easiest 16 hours ever! Had to drive faster just to stay awake!

I have sport seats as well. It was more of the pounding of the interstate. The M030 is nice in the twisties but brutal over the long haul. I don't know how the guys with the beefier springs can take it on long road trips.

Lol, and you didn't even get to experience the long dirt road into the BBQ place. That was fun with 500/650lb springs.

I've taken my 951 on several 12+ hour trips. Supremely comfortable!
On the other hand: with my 83' 944 with Koni Yellows....bumps feel harsh!! I personally think the Koni's are terrible for a street car and would love to ride in car with "modern" shocks. (high speed valving..KW, etc.)

*I've read in some places that ride would be nicer with about 300-400 lb springs, to better match the shock valving. As compared with the 250 lb springs I have* ...Not so sure I believe it but...

Steve, these cars are very hard on your body for that kind of duration, you should know that! But hey, at least you didn't take a beating like your portfolio did this past 2 weeks!

Yeah, and you guys thought I went the "wrong" way when I followed my GPS!

Anyone know what springs the M030 cars have? I agree that having matched springs and struts make a lot of sense. I'll have to look into that when the Konis go.
