I think from most angles the 944/51 is definitely a better form than the 968. It has much sexier curves and doesn't have that rocker panel which is awful. The 968 does look more polished and modern in general terms but put those mirrors on our cars and it updates nicely. The sealed rear end is a more modern production technique but also looks more like a 928, and we know how well they're viewed around here...
The end of the hand built raw muscled drivers cars.. the last remnants of that era, and the beginning of the new plush and friendly porsche we know today.
The 968 is a strange and puzzling missing link between the old and new porsche. Part of what makes it a unique car i suppose.
I go back and forth on which car I like.. I've decided I will have to own both.

Just recently bought a great 1987 944 turbo.
Its a dream
I couldn't wait to post to rennlist and ask some questions
Has anyone used the deutschnine.com 968 Style Rear Bumper Conversion, ie is it worth it. I love the 944 but hate the rear end
any have a spare silver M501 option turbo decal lying around

Simple...because the bumper pads and orange lights look like ****.
Either delete the pads or use the GT bumper and swap out the ugly oranges and put in some clears...it makes a hell of a difference and is cheaper that adapting a 968 rear.
