Default 1988 951 A/C problem

My '88 with 50,000 miles has just developed this problem. When I first turn the a/c on it is icy cold, but after awhile its just cool not cold. i have the Poesche service manuals and in their troobleshooting section it states it could be the deicer or the expansion valve. Anyone else had this problem before ?

It could be low on freon and freezing up. If you have an A/C manifold set, you can check for the correct pressures. Otherwise, you are guessing.

agreed. look for threads started by me, using the search function. You'll find LOTS of info.

you need to find out if you are running R12 or R134. If it is 134, you can buy a very cheap kit, with a hose, fitting, and guage. It will tell you if it's low.
