Default Another Cooling fan thread

(didnt get much of a response on the s2 forum so i thought i'd post it here...)

Hi guys i did a search and also checked clarks garage but my problem seems a bit different. I have '90 S2 cabrio. The problem is that both fans run at normal speed for about 5 secs, then the passenger side fan stops and the drivers side runs at very high speed for about 7 secs, and this process continuously repeats itself. It usually doesnt start happening until ive been driving for a while. Ive swapped the relay with another one from another 944 and it does the same thing so im pretty sure its not the relay...Any ideas?

check the actual termination points at and before the fan assembly. Bad or dirty contacts can have a similiar effect. Disconnect/Clean/re-terminate ALL connection points.

Sounds like when both fans are commanded to run at high speed, but passenger fan can't run at high speed. Do both fans run at high speed with the AC on? Pull the fan relay and make sure all the contacts are in good order.
