Josh, because it's happening as you mention in your thread, I would definitely look at "moveable" wires, as I quoted above this post.

I had similar issues - turned out to be my kill switch (racing mandated part, not OEM) I agree with everyone - start with loose wires - also, when it happens, does it LOOK like your revs drop? (because momentary lack of power to the cluster, not really dropping)

My problem was definitely the starter cable grounding out against the body of the car.
