Default Throw out bearing

Well, I borrowed a borescope and figured out that the throw out bearing came apart. I am NOT a happy camper. I figure that since I have to do all of the work of clutch job, I'd like to install a 968 bell housing to make future jobs much easier. Is this possible? Does anyone have a spare one? TIA

The 968 bellhousing is a different length. (longer I believe) You can get everything to line up properly if you also use a 968 torque tube. I didn't do any further investigating after finding out it's not a bolt on affair due to lenght, but other issues you might run into are starter and slave cylinder locations due to the 968 having that funky dual mass flywheel setup.

You could save that X-mas bonus, get the bellhousing, torque tube, AND 6 spd tranny - then you're set. It's easy to spend other peoples money.

Did the TO bearing come apart or did the thrust washer come off and the C clip is lying in the bottom of the housing? If the latter, see how the washer is facing when it comes apart.

Michelle, I feel your pain. I had one come apart too. It only had 16k miles on it when it happened. Sorry for your headache and soon to be backache.

Sorry to hear that. Any idea why it broke apart? It was almost new, right?
