Default Oil pressure

My factory gauge was reading 4-5 bar all the time. I just replaced the oil pressure sending unit. I let the car idle for 15 minutes or so and it still reads 4-4.5 bar. How long should it take for the oil to warm up and the pressure to drop at idle? Is 15 minutes not long enough?

The car isn't street legal, so I can't go drive around. Oil is 20/50, temp is around 70, coolant warmed up normally and fans kicked on. My concern is the oil pressure staying over 4. Did I just not let it warm up enough? How long should it take before the pressure drops to 2-3?

Thanks in advance!

Check the oil pressure with a hand-held gauge that has been calibrated.....could be your gauge.

My completely rebuilt engine w/2000 mi runs 4.5-5 bar above 4000 rpm and 2.0-3.0 bar at idle w20/50 Red Line and the cooling fan cycling. My dash gauge is calibrated.

Run probably 20 min and not that hard. I have a KISS oil cooler.

Idle gives not enough load that creates oil temp, you have to run it with load.

OK, well since I don't have a hand held gauge, I guess I'll just take it to the track as is and hope for the best. Sucks not being able to test drive on the street.........

No, its not.
You are describing and engine with excellent clearances and modern engine oil.

Don't ****** defeat from the jaws of victory.
