Default where does your clutch grab?

I have a newer clutch (done by the po 3.5 years ago but hardly used) but it has always grabbed kind of high in my opinion but never slipped. Where is it supposed to grab?

I just put a new clutch in 600 miles ago and mine grabs towards the top as well. Very little free play in the pedal.

Just put a new clutch in mine about 700 miles ago and it grabs towards the top as well. Personally I like it where it is. Friends who have driven my car have said it's hard to get used to it. Once you're used to it and you learn where the release point is, it's not a problem.

You are sort of stuck with the pedal free play on these cars. The clutch is designed to operate with about 1/8" at the pedal. As long as you have some free play and it doesn't slip you should be OK. Personally I keep it at the 1/8" mark and have never had a problem even with a new disc. A new disc will always release higher and actually slip if not adjusted correctly after replacement; a worn disc should especially be adjusted to make the throw as short as possible by adjustment and still have free play. YMMV
