951...we had an '03 S4-TT and had nothing but problems. Bought it new in Feb '04, followed all the regular maintenance (by the dealer) and problem,problems, problems. It was a very fun car to drive and comfortable on long holiday, but I would not own another. Timing belt broke 17k miles after the scheduled change (dealer parts 6k in repairs)...thermo replaced 4 times...FC relays (2)...computer...just tooooomany issues. Seems like we had it in the shop every other week.
BTW, no point wasting time with the stock Ko3's, they are DONE at 360-380 fwhp and don't last very long at those boost levels. K04's/RS6Ko4's,K16's or Garrett Gt25/28 will get you into the 400/500 +whp club on pump. More with racegas or meth. Good for low 11"s and 130 trap.

Sorry for the way my post sounded. After re-reading it I understand your postion. I only meant that I couldn't undertand how your wife, driving a Range Rover, could compare the performance to an S4 and and call the S4 a gutless wonder. Also, you should consider anger management counseling.

My wife was not comparing the B5 S4 Avant to a Range Rover. Prior to driving the B5 S4 Avant we test drove a B6 S4 Avant and a BMW 540i. The B6 had a 4.2L V8, which puts out 330hp. That is about 80 more hp than a US spec B5. That translates to about one second on a zero to sixty time, which is significant.
Other cars my wife compared the B5 to (we've owned):
98 Jaguar XJR 370hp
85 Jaguar xjs sbc 400hp
84 Jaguar xjs v12
80 Porsche 928 Euro S +300hp
88 Mustang GT 5.0 heads, cam, exhaust, intake
89 BMW 750il 300hp
02 BMW e46 M3 330hp
86 Porsche 944T track car
Other cars:
C4 Vette 500hp and slicks at the track
All the cars on that list have better hp to weight ratios than a stock B5 S4 Avant. However, from what I am reading in this post, a modified B5 S4 Avant would move high up on that list.

02 was the last year for the B5 S4..................they were /are N aspirated since then............with various body style changes................the one you claim you had is a different car or maybe you just don't know what you are talking about.

sorry "oh master of the trailer park"...I had my years 1 off...it was an 02 that my wife bought in early 03. I guess I should have awoken her last night to interrogate her as to exactly when and where she purchased a car over 5 years ago. Eiher way mu opinion stays the same much like you they are a waste of money and time.
