Default Post Head Gasket Install Woes; help please!

My head gasket went about 3 months ago. Finally got it over and had a widefire put in, but now am encountering a couple of conditions.

At operating temp, she still is barfing out white smoke of the exhaust; thought this could still be coolant inside, but seems strange.- Update- just spoke with the shop, smoke is getting better- the cat must've been full.

Additionally, stock boost readings at idle are at about 12, and oil pressure at idle is pegged at 5- do I have a plugged oil return line to the turbo?- Maybe just need to readjust the boost post the head gasket change- it seems to be shaking and shuddering a little at this point.

Any help you can provide would be great; my baby is hurt!

Thanks in advance.

Nate

Are you saying you are seeing 12 psi at idle? Impossible. Was any head work done when the HG was replaced? I might have this backwards but oil pressure pegged at 5 could be the wires are crossed at the sender; if it reads 0 the ground wire at the sender is disconected.

yeah, if wires are crossed at the sender it will do as you desribe.

If you are seeing 12 in/hg at idle, you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Should be running a little rich or idle a little off if that's the case too.

I'm with Spidey, 12 in/hg (vacuum) at idle would indicate that you probably have a vacuum leak, which is causing your rough idle. At sea levl the consensus seems to be that it should be more like 15-17 in/hg at idle. (Up here at 5k feet I'm pretty happy with 12...)

In my experience, the easiest way to track down a leak is to pressurize the intake tract using a boost system tester. Here's a link to the Arnnworx tool or you can fabricate your own from some a PVC end cap and a schraeder valve.
