Well i can help on one after extentsive lookin i found out the 716 is part of the 715 option code (what was told to me by dealer ) cause my car has 715 and 716 and it is PV-U Production Pilot Run. There are but the same thing ...do me a favor and look on ur head and tell me if the 51 in 951 is ingraved instead of rased like the rest and there is no "T" on the flat plate before it . but it looks to me u got a really early turbo considered an '85
Are your doorhandels early and the is no 3rd brake lite??

I have pics at the moment, but none of the head, and yes it has no third brake, light. Does that make it more collectible?

I have an early 951 too with no 3rd eye brake light. Has the script door handles, but the early linkage I think as I have yet to find the right pieces. never thought of them being early style though, thanks!

OK, found 715 option code, but a bit confused exactly what it means. CONTROL PV-U PRODUCTION PILOT RUN. Previous pilot production run? And what the difference between 715 and 716? Gotta be one right? And whats the deal with c88? Isnt there a way by looking at my vin to tell exactly which number in production it is?

Yes that was one of the first 200 cars made. I have #134 and it was one of the first imported into CA on 9/85 and on the streets in 10/85. It is still an 86 but because it was on US streets in 85 there are some variations in them like non-script door handles, no third brake light, no "unleaded fuel only" script on the gauge cluster, v-band type connection on wastegate dump pipe, very few available options. Mine even had the NA tire information (15") inside the gas door. Some really early 86 951's had the DME chips soldered to the board but there were a couple of these cars out there and I'm told that it was mostly limited to the 85 turbo cars with the early dash.
I also had #545, and 262.

Ooooh a turbo with an early dash, thatd be cool. How can I tell which number this one is? WP0AA0944GN460766 just got off the phone with the dealer and they have no clue which option 716 is or c88. How can I figure this out?

Why are the numbers on the vin plate different than the numbers on the options sticker? vin says gn460766 the sticker says gn150200 ?????

How can you tell the date, and when it was imported and what not?

The only thing the dealer could tell me was the delivery date(the day it hit retail lot) which was 3/7/86. My local dealer said it was too old for him to see that info. And has no clue what option C88 or 716 is. So they have no clue what the build date or import date is.
