Default 944/951 HVAC & Recirculate Switch

Is the recirculate function for the A/C a push-in switch or a momentary switch?

I just got the A/C working on the car and happen to notice that the recirculation button will not stay in on its own or stay lit unless I hold it.

The weather has been cooler lately so, I do not know if it is a protection mechanism for the A/C system. I know my Audi disables the A/C compressor when it reads outside temperatures below ~50f.

Other than that, the A/C system is working well.

Thanks,

Brett

I think they just get old and don't like to stay in. My is like that too -- I have to get it just right to stay down.

There are these small little plastic tabs that lock the CC buttons in the down position and they like to break off when the buttons get old. I doubt the system disables the recirc if it is too cold, so it is most likely just a bad button. The a/c shouldn't be disabled because the compressor is used for defrost - it removes all the humidity from the air and makes the defrost work much more efficiently.
