So - how long does a new tank stay like that before it turns dark? I've found that I can shine my Surefire in the tank from the outside and see the water line. A new tank would be nice, but I'd hate to get one just for it to turn dark within a year or two.

Thats a very good question! Even my Surefire aviator had a hard time helping me see the level. I don't care how long the pure white lasts, it was worth it for me!

I have the U2 Ultra and it has to be at near-full brightness to see the level, but it works. I usually have to bump the car to see the level move around some though. If I don't use the flashlight, I pop off the cap when the car is cold.

Are there extra clips or attachments on the top of the new tank? It looks considerably different.

My tank is 4-5 years old and you can see the difference from new, its not much...I had oil foam that kinda crapped it up a little....

New and old tanks were exactly the same. I had to switch the old clips over but that wasn't much of an issue.
