Slim pickins in the 245/45/R16 size...got a favorite?
So...my preferred cheap street tire - the Yoko ES100 is NLA. It's wonderful replacement - the S Drive - doesn't offer a 245/45/16 size.
Fronts are no problem but seems like there are not too many choices left for the rears.
Sooo..what are y'all running for a basic set of street rubber?
Jeff

I purchased a set of Conti Sport Contacts from Tirerack (just checked, they are on back order). So far so good, but I don't drive the car much anyway.
The web site offers a few more choices, I'd check there.

Fuzion ZRi is a low cost tire. I am running a set on my Subaru and have been pleasantly surprised. I have heard good things about the Hankook Ventus, but have not direct experience. Toyo Proxes T1R are also well regarded, but not a "value" tire.

Mostly high performance tires only...and very few

If you don't drive the car much in the rain, I'd opt for the Michelin Pilot Sport Cups (what the new 997 GT3 comes with).
They handle damp roads well, but without major rain grooves, they don't like standing water much.

Hankook Ventus R-S2
The Hankooks are less expensive than the Contis and perform better than them as well as the Fuzion or Yoko's. I' ve had mine over a year and a half and they have plenty of thread left, never flat spottted or anything, great deal for $400 all four!

I have heard good things about the Hankook Ventus (atleast on dry track). I have heard people suggest yoko avs es100's, how ever I hated them on the festiva (when it was pushing 300 hp).

Interesting, I just went through this with my car and wound up with the ES100s. The Hankook RS2 weren't available and after trying the Fuzions on my Audi I went with the AVS Es100. The problem is I had relatively new Bridgestone RE 050A on the front and the tread patterns aren't even close.
This is up in Canada so maybe there were some ES100s still available, but my info was it was still in production.
