USAA is low ballin, trying to total, any suggestions?
Well, its been a few months, since Ive come to rennlist. Its been depressing looking at, the forum and all the 951's. On Jan. 31st, some idiot pulled out to cut off traffic, and hit my 951. Well, the Ins. comapny(USAA, the ones at fault), is low balling the crap out of me. theyre offering me about 6k for my 951, regardless of the $9,000, in receipts I have for parts from the last 2 months before the accident. Things like, zimmerman x-drilled w/pads, new steering rack, new odometer, new cruise control lever, fabspeed exhaust, total tune-up, heater valve, new dash, shifter cover, etc, etc, etc. Currently, im in the process of suing, USAA...however that will take, about 6 months from now. My appraiser has valued the car at $14,xxx, But, USAA refuses to budge(pig ****in,modern day extortionists). Im posting some pics of the damage, maybe you guys could give some suggestions, on what you would do. I also posted a before pic.
TIA

Find a good writier, at an independant shop. They can write it alot better than your insurance company. Tell them you want to save the car and let negotiations begin from there.

My ins. company isnt involved. Stuttgart Southwest, has given an estimate of 6k plus supplemental to fix it.

Also if you can bring used parts in hand you can have a private shop look at them and write the car for used parts. A used bumper cover and used hood+fender will drop the estimate a good $2000.

i see. Well finding your own used parts is the only way to save that car from the sharks mostlikely. That plus finding a shop who will cut some needless and expensive corners.

You won't be reimbursed for items that are considered maintenance, like brakes, new engine seals, control arms, timing belt etc. Those are costs of operating the vehicle. Aftermarket performance items are typically the only thing reimbursed on top of the base value of the car.

The base value of the car, is more than 6k!!!!!

How did they come up with the value? Did they use an independent company like CCC or ADP? Did they provide you with a list of comparable vehicles? Did you provide them with a list of comparable vehicles?

Yeah first they gave me 2 examples, 1 in Pa, 1 in MI(I live in Phx,AZ) The one in PA, was a honda dealer, so I called them up, well long story short, they had never heard of the car, actually they said the stock number I was given was "bogus". The second was a private cell phone that never picked up. I made them aware of this, and they said they would review it. When they got back to me,they gave me 2 more listings of ads from autotrader. One again never answered, the second, was a fellow enthusiast, who informed me it was a salvage title, and when I explained my 951, he told me flat out, there was no comparison. All 4 cars were in the 7k range.

miles on the odometer at time of crash is what they go by, condition/paint/interior, year, stuff you haven't mentioned.
kbb and nada give hi-mid-low guestimates. kbb only goes back to '88.
you haven't mentioned what happened, who was at fault, if you're insured.
bottom line, they're not gonna pay queen prices for something average, no matter what mods you have.
i got $5k for a great shape, hi mileage '87944S, 3 1/2 years ago and kept the car at no extra charge/deduction.

You need to understand that these cars are very expensive to fix. All you 951 owners need to schedule your cars when you do mods. My car is insured for $50,000 for theft, fire, collission, etc.
When you put money into your car, it doesn't matter to the insurance company. They go by Blue, Black, or whatever book they want to use.
It's not very expensive to schedule the value with your carrier as long as you have a decent driving record.
Sorry, but the book value is what you will typically get if you don't pay the piper and get a value on the policy for actual replacement costs.
It costs me an extra $500 per year to schedule my cars for actual replacement. Most good insurers get this, and will insure at replacement cost as long as you show what was done. Bad driving records, forget about it.
