Default balance shaft gear removal

Is the balance shaft gear supposed to just pull off after the 24mm bolt is removed? I cant get this thing out no matter what, and there is no room to use a gear puller.

According to clarks garage:

Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt using a 24mm or 15/16" deep socket. Remove the power steering pulley. Remove the alternator/AC pulley and balance belt gear as a unit from the crankshaft.

I'd offer to help you out but I'm in Philly till Friday.

I just cant believe how rediculously hard it was to use a gear puller in that space. You needed 6 hands to work it, and it was extreemly tight. Im so happy its out now

FWIW, tapping lightly can be quite effective in my experience!

By the way, I like that rim color.

What kind/size gear puller does one need to get this thing off? I'm trying at the moment... Also need to get the gear wheel(s) off for the balance shaft driving mechanism.
So I wager I would need 2 gear puller sizes...

For the bs.. i just use a small cheap battery terminal puller.. unthread the bolt.. take the washer off, thread back in a few turns and use the puller…

Good idea!

What would you use for the larger gear wheel, behind the crankshaft pulley?

Just a small 2 jaw puller… same deal remove big honkin washer thread bolt in and 9 times out of 10 you can just turn it by hand and it slides off…
