Oh yeah, check your tranny mount while you are at it. If you drive on the street at all, don't go with a solid mount. I learned the hard way.

george, I will remove the axle in question, when I do what should I be looking out for to tell whether it is the offending item or not?

Trust me, you will know. The bearings will be very loose in the housing. Mine fell out when I took the axle out. Used the bearings in my son's wrist rocket (slingshot)

Honestly, you should replace both axles. You probably have many miles on them and they are a wear item, long wearing one, but they do require replacement. Both axles from a good source is around $300. If you need a lead to a good OE supplier, PM me. Don't get the aftermarket axles, OE only.

Also, when you put pressure on the axle, do you see it moving up and down in the boot? How loose is it? I don't want you to go through this effort when it's not your axle.

The movement is about


Pasenger side leteral 5MM up/down 0MM
Drivers side (problem area I think) leteral 15MM up/down 1MM
