Video from the Glen

333, my bigest problem was I had to be very gentle on the throttle and watch the boost gauge like a hawk to make sure I didn't develop to much (which would send the computer into over-boost protection mode). So I couldn't accelerate out of the corners much - it forced me to focus on smooth and gentle braking before the corner and then carrying as much momentum as possible through it. It's good practice to drive a NA car once in a while!

Oh yeah I meant to mention that it looks like a really good fun track and very well suited to our cars. You guys seem to have so many good tracks. Where did you have the camera mounted and what sort of camera please.
It looks like it has been mounted on the bumper and the wind noise suggests that it's outside too. I like the angle but would like to have the mike back inside the car to pickup the engine noise.

I have a little bullet camera mounted in the intercooler duct (it was about $100 from ebay a few years ago). The mic is a little low-gain one that is actually in the cockpit, taped to where the radio should be (in front of the shifter).
Overall, it works pretty well and was a fun project to set up.
And, you're correct. The Glen is a great track for our cars - Mosport is too, for those that haven't driven there.

Nice one. Those bullet cameras actually seem to provide a pretty decent image. So does that go back to a tape or hard drive in the cockpit? I was steered away from hardrive recorders due to susceptibility to shocks. I'd like to hear a bit more of your motor is all, but great job all the same!

It has been an evolution... I first started out with a 12v VCR in the trunk (from a mobil home) and that worked pretty well - it recorded fine with no skipping.
2 years ago I moved into the digital age (mostly because I was sick of having to replay the tapes and encode them digitally, which was time consuming and reduced the quality) with a digital encoder/recorder that saves the movies as AVI files. It used a laptop hard drive, which, as you may have guessed, didn't work. I got footage of me driving out of the pits - and then again pulling back into the pits. The movement of the car caused too much vibration and impact for the precision HD.
So, I found an "IDE to compact flash" adapter. This lets me plug in a solid state CF card, but the unit "thinks" it's a hard drive! It works like a champ!
All told, I have a few hundred bucks into it - probably the same amount as a budget compact camera would be.

Excellent work then. I hope to get some more next week but it's been a while so not expecting much. Still it's all a bit of fun.

A little wide in the bus stop and don't lift for 10....
but other than that - nice video!
For those that haven't been there - the Glen really suits the 944 turbo - the gear ratios are just about perfect and lots of power is a good thing!

That seemed to give the passengers a little squirm factor!
