Default Pics of 5" exhaust for Rennlister

One of our power crazed list members comissioned us to build them a 5" exhaust for their 944t race car.Actually it starts off with a 3" v-band,immediately jumps to 3.5" then transitions to 4" round. From there it transitions to 4" oval and then finally transitions to 5" round

We wil be selling the 4" oval exhaust now instead of the 4" round for those guys that got to have the big pipes. It has much better ground clearance when it goes under the torsion housing.Actually it has even better ground clearance then the 3" round

Here are the pics. Just so you can get an idea of how big this thing is we took a picture of it next to one of our 3" cat-backs.LOL

Jesus...routing looks a little different over stock for the test pipe. 5 inches isn't overkill?

I put a picture up of the routing. It actually fits pretty well since we didnt use any flanges or v-bands on the 3.5" pipes that comes off the turbo.

So how does it sound? It looks like something off a Cummings Turbo Diesel only made well.

I have taken apart many cars, and I have seen many exhaust systems from different vendors including, headers, x-over pipes, test pipes but let me assure you Speed Force racing stuff is second to none. If I were to build another bullet proof lartmobile 951 I would use Tim exhaust system without hesitation, his headers stage II are superb and his SS 3" down pipe, x-over, test and cat back are nothing short of amazing.

No afiliation with SFR just stating the facts.

Ps, just don't let Tim handle the used oil, lol.

Wow, what sort of a crazy nutter would have such a thing built? It defies sanity. Hope it's attached to some big crazy motor too...
Is that a bung for a w/b just past the w/g tie in?

Everytime I see something from you Tim, it makes me want to drive down and drop my car off for a couple of weeks. Great craftsmanship.

I don't know though, I think you could end up with a seven inch pipe, you're still starting off with a 3". I think it would be better to find a way to start off wider before opening it bigger as you go back. I can't see this exhaust helping that much. It sure is purty though.

Joe, you're limited by the outlet of the turbo and the actual space for the downpipe. 3.5" isn't too bad considering the stock one is probably 2.5". There's not room for bigger unless you're talking a full on track car where you can cut and shut anything.

Well, let's see if we can get that crazy nutter responsible for this to fess up!

Actually, there is merit in the design if you study the pressure wave activity... the longer the pipe, the more benefit you gain from increasing the cross section even though that cross sectional increase may be further along the length of the pipe... as Patrick says, you generally also have space and clearance constraints to work with.
