The ignition just unplugs so its kinda hard to screw up, The hard part is removing the old one from the column. The screws have no heads, what i did when i was use a small chiesel to slowly unscrew it. Otherwise check the fuses and if you have to go under the dash with a test light an go into the ignition wiring or whatever else you can find an run a new one. A good way to splice it in without compromising the wire is to remove a small section of the jacket with a razor blade, then wrap the new wire, solder and tape. I used to do stereo installs back in the day.

The "bolt" heads are pretty far down in a hole which is narrower than my dremel blade. In order to get to the "bolt" heads, did you cut right into the mount as well?

Just curious as I was looking at this this morning myself.
