Tim,

I just emailed your website, then I saw this thread. Is your hi-flow cat a direct fit in place of the stock cat?

No, our hi-flow cat can only be used with our testpipe.

Tim, I just failed my emissions test so I guess I am in for a new exhaust. So what will it run me for everything I need from the cross over pipe back including a cat. thanks!

Hello Group Buyers, just getting around to trying out this muffler. Did anyone else have to cut a few inches off the pipe going to the muffler? Mine is about 2 or 3 inches longer that will fit. It is also a butt-joint (both muffler and pipe are same diameter) -- so am wondering if it should have been expanded?

You should have to cut off any of the length on the pipe and the muffler should slip over the pipe.If it doesnt, you can send it back and we will expand it for you.The mufflers normally come with it already expaned.

I cut it -- you had supplied a butt-joint band clamp, so I figured I'd use it. I still have enough length to use a lap joint by sliding out the cat replacement a few inches, if I ever get around to sending it back. The exhaust hanger tabs were also welded on the bottom side of the pipe instead of the top, so I made up little extenders. Must be all that reefer madness over at SFR. Sounds nice with the new cam.

Has anybody else had a problem getting the sfr downpipe to fit? Mine comes very close to the last bolt on the balance shaft cover. I ended up having to put a quarter size dent in it to make it clear. Otherwise that and the rest of the system is of the highest quality.

When I built my motor I was having that issue. If memory serves, I was able to clock the turbo a tad to get clearance, and ground the head down a few mm's on that b/s cover bolt. No denting for me. I had to get it all "just so" -- which was easier for me since the motor was on a stand at the time.

Thought I'd post a picture of my weekend efforts. I liked the sound of the SFR exhaust, but wasn't that excited about the big mouth tailpipe. I cut the original exhaust tip off and replaced it with a 3 1/2" ss tip ($20) from summit. A bit more stealth, in keeping with my car's stock appearance.

Is your tip just welded right on to the end of the muffler?

I connected the tip to the little stub pipe on the end of the muffler, after cutting off the bigger tip that was there.
