Default What is the function of the timing valve?

I am in the process of moving to a stand-alone ECU (DTA S60Pro)

I am reviewing the wiring of the standard DME/KLR setup.

I see that the KLR controls the timing valve. What exactly is the function? What do I do with this in the stand-alone situation?

Its a 80s boost controller. If the KLR detects knock/problem it uses the the timing valve(aka cycling valve CV) to lower boost. Just unplug it and remove it.
