Default How to convert kg/h to ??

I see people talking about cfm and relating it to HP. How would I convert say 850 kg/h to XXX CFM

edit: OK found some formulas online and I converted it to 850kg/h to 408.263415 CFM. How much HP can a MAF that maxes out its signal @ 408 CFM support?

What formula did you use?

I converted 850kg/h to 427.93CFM.

~428CFM is about 29.57lbs/min.

Usually you take 10 * lbs/min to get a _rough_ hp estimate.. So ultimately I would say that 850kg/h is worth about ~300hp.

I come up with about the same as Rogue in case you're looking for others to confirm. not exactly a performance maf.

Sorry, ideal gas-law has to be used, than you can calculate from massflow (Kg/h) to volumeflow (cfm). This is only possible if pressure and temperature is known.

sure, but I didn't use that route. just converted to lbs/min and calculated in a general forced induction bsfc.
or, lightning mafs are maxed around 600 crank hp. 5v reads 1750 kg/h. so just take right around half.....mr. smarty pants.

Actually, MAFs measure weight of air, not volume.
So, CFM shouldn't even be part of the discussion.
The question should just be: How much hp is 850 kg/hr worth, and that's it.
