How to clean MLS head gasket for reuse?
We took the head of an engine for inspection.
We have used a MLS Cometic headgasket, an older version, and we used Permatex copper spray on it.
Worked fine, no problems.
To reuse the HG, we want to clean the HG surface, so we can spray it again.
Question now is: How do we clean this surface?

One question, why u wanna reuse it and put all of your cyl pressure in the hands of a used gasket?
As far as the cleaning goes, you talking about the deck surface of the block/head? Or the gasket itself?

Hi Hans,
yes we reused our many times. we found the best thing to clean these with was Wurth brake cleaner. of course any brake cleaner should work fine. and a few clean rags. spray the rags with brake cleaner and start rubbing. takes about ten minutes and comes up squeeky clean. the copper spray is a great idea.
