Default Help...removing AC lines and draining

OK, my mechanic pulled my compressor a few weeks ago when he was doing some other work. I am pulling the HVAC system and the lines today and the lines still have coolant in them...

What is the best way to drain?

Any special considerations?

thanks

Well, what I did was loosen one of the fittings until I heard a hissing sound of gas escaping, went in the house to have lunch, when I came back out the system was empty. Then removed all the AC components.

Not the most environmentally-friendly option, but...
