An interesting thought is to boycott their GAS.

Every time you fill up the car, you can avoid putting more money into the coffers of Saudi Arabia. Just buy from gas companies that don't import their oil from the Saudis.

Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill-up the tank, I am sending my money to people who are trying to kill me, my family, and my friends.

I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil companies are the best to buy gas from and which major companies import Middle Eastern oil.

These companies import Middle Eastern oil:

Shell.................................... 205,742,000 barrels

Chevron/Texaco................ 144,332,000 barrels

Exxon/Mobil......................... 130,082,000 barrels

Marathon/Speedway…….. 117,740,000 barrels

Amoco.................................. 62,231,000 barrels

Citgo gas is from South America, from a Dictator who hates Americans. If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18 BILLION! (oil is now $90 - $100 a barrel

Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:

Sunoco..................0 barrels

Conoco................ .0 barrels

Sinclair ..................0 barrels

BP/Phillips.............0 barrels

Hess.......................0 barrels

ARC0......................0 barrels

If you go to Sunoco. com .. , you will get a list of the station locations near you.

All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing.
Interesting tips, but why have you thrown Saudi and other Middle Eastern countries in the same bucket.

1. The Saudis currently have a campaign to not buy US and Danish goods not because of political or religious motives, but rather to face the current rising prices of basic products coming from the USA.

2. We also buy oil from other middle eastern countries Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. These countries are some of our closest allies in the Middle East.

3. Saudi Arabia is also condidered an ally of the west. Both the USA and the UK supplies weapons, ships and planes to them and trains their troops and Saudi Arabia was the major hub and base of operations for US troops fighting the first gulf war.

Interestingly we also buy oil from Syria, Lybia and as you said Venesuela, now these guys openly hate us.

considering that the vast majority of the terrorists responsible for 9/11 were Saudi's, I find your assertion that they are our close allies awfully dubious. Their government knows where it's bread gets buttered, as do the rest of the M.E. govts, but that sure doesn't make their people our allies.

Anyway, it doesn't matter. Boycotting the oilf or products from every country with which we have a problem is ridiculous on it's face.

Is it ok to run the cheaper stuff? I've always been afraid of it messing my stuff up, and I've always ran the same station through my truck. This is a 1992 Toyota pick up with a 4 cylinder 22re.

Also, having a half empty tank isn't going to affect mileage that much. Now if your hauling 3 friends around...then yes, that will.
Running the higher 89 octane in the truck would normally be a waste of money, but considering that in your circumstance it's actually cheaper, I see no problem.

I always ran an Ethanol blend in my old Conquest, and I'd do it in the 951 too if it weren't for the fact I don't live by that station anymore.

So it shouldn't destory my fuel lines or injectors, will it?

I'll save about 1.25 a tank running the 89 versus the 87. I need to fill up the tank, so was just curious.

Unless its race fuel, I don't remember the last station that did not blend ethanol into the gas. The PILOT truck stops used to advertise 100% gas, but last time I was at one, the 10% ethanol applied

No. It's the stuff that's 85% that you have to worry about(E85). Standard 10-15% blends are perfectly fine in all cars.

You guys running low octane gas had better not be turning up the boost. In fact, you should probably turn it down. Be careful.

There is a Marathon 3 blocks from my house, no ethanol added.

haha...no worries ehall. The toyota was bumped to 89 tonight (going to start running 93 soon). The S2 has always had 93 ran through it. I'll walk to fill up a gas jug with 93 before I put 91 in it [the S2].

As a fuel the E85 is fine, but you have to make changes to your vehicle first. It can be a much cheaper source of race fuel for us Down Under if they sell it for the proposed $1.00 per litre. Race fuel costs us about $5 per litre which equates to about $19 per gallon!!! As some of our listers already have proven, you can make some serious power with E85. The downside is that you have to burn about 30% more. With the E10 or E5, so long as you drive regularly and not let the car stand idle for too long, you shouldn't have any issues. Just be careful of it getting into any contact with alloys.
Interesting thread though. When I go to the track I will always fill up in the morning, but now I'll attempt to do that all the time. Thanks for the tip Todd.

Oh, here's a picture of 2 different fuels as you can see. 1 of these was bought from an independent Gas Station. The other from a BP outlet. They are both meant to be our 98 octane (which is about the same as your 93). There is currently a claim going on with the rogue Gas Station.
Any guesses which one is which, not too hard a question unfortunately.

I use Chevron since it has Techron and more tier in it than any other gasoline. I usually put in 8-10 gallons when it gets down to 1/4 tank, I never fill up to minimize weight...
