Default best way to degrease an engine?

I have the whole engine apart and already went through 2 cans of brake cleaner on the right side of the engine under where the exhaust was and its only half way done. Is there anything better?

oil eaters you can get it at many auto parts stores. comes in a spray bottle like windex its non toxic and works better than any gunk or goop crap i have ever used.

another one i found that works killer is self etching mag wheel cleaner, it has acid in it and eats grease away and cleans your zinc, just do not leave it on too long or it will dry and it is a difficult to get off.

the self etching mag wheel cleaner also makes your exhaust manifolds look brand new it takes off the brown color and makes them all shiny.

i 2nd Oil Eater. this is the best stuff i have ever used. it makes grease and oil become water soluble with some kind of enzyme. it won't even kill your grass.

Pressurewasher will do wonders. I scrubbed my crossmember with a heavy brush using a hard engine degreaser and got fed up. SO I doused the thing in degreaser, let it sit for 10 mins while spraying it every few mins to keep it wet then blasted it with a pressurewasher. For extra strength, plug the washer into a hot water spout. But make sure you dont fry the pressurewasher engine.

gasoline...

pour some on it, soak some rags, keep the soaked rags on it.

that should work a bit...

hot tanks are nice too :-)

I feel compelled to post my cross over just to show Tom I can actually clean parts. Although, mine doesn't look that nice. And, it didn't start out that bad. I kid Tom, I kid.
