Default split rim wheel pictures

I noticed a year or so ago when I was thinking about buying a 944 turbo that one of the regular posters had a picture of a split rim wheel as his avitar.

Now I have a 944 turbo, I really want some split rim wheels because I just love the look.

The wheel in the avitar I mention had a centre which looked like a turbo twist almost in silver, a ring of cap head bolts (as usual) and from what I remember a polished rim.

So.. Anyone able to post a picture of a wheel matching this description? or any other split rim wheels, aftermarket or genuine, on or off of a 944 turbo.

I have spent about 2 hours searching through posts looking for the avitar I mentioned, but cant find it

LFA951 had his BW Kinesis in his avatar for a while. Those wheels look like this:

The wheels in the picture have been cleaned(see below) and may be for sale this summer.

they did not look quite like either of those wheels.

imagine heating up the speedlines so you could twist the centre of the wheel through about 10 degrees. like a turbo twist.

I can remember the avitar really well.. just wish I could find those wheels.. I have even done a google image search for "porsche wheels" "porsche split rim" and lots of other variations without luck.

I know the ones you are talking about. They were used on Project 951 in European Car Magazine. I believe they came from FRH International. I think Smokiemon944 picked up a set like that not too long ago.

OBD812 - I found a post by smokiemon showing his wheels.. YES THESE ARE THE ONES!

However, as you pointed out, his avatar is seriously cool... So, my shopping list now has a set of those wheels on there!

I also need what Smokiemon has in his current avatar!

I was browsing Pelican's forum yesterday & saw a for sale post for these wheels. It probably is smokie selling his...

With the current exchange rate, you could buy these & have them shipped for much less than you'd have to pay in the UK.

I don't believe that you can link to other forum sites here, so just go to pelican parts' classified section & look in the 944/968 parts area.

Smokiemon, whats your price for these?

Do they have a name or model number?

and most importantly, whats the story behind your Avitar?
