Jason are you sure, they are still listed as on the Yokohama website and all the distributors can still order them. My last set was ordered in by my tire shop as they did not have stock of my size.

Where exactly did you hear that they were discontinued?

Found out why I thought they were discontinued...

The ES100 has been discontinued only in certain specific sizes where they have been replaced by the S-drives ..

for e.g. 195/50/15 and 205/50/15 are now only available in the s-drives, earlier they used to come in ES 100 as well ..

Whats with the tiny tire size? 245's? Couldn't you go just a tad bigger on those wheels? I assume that you have staggered sizes between front and back. If so, you could look into different tires that suit each pair.

I've driven on both, and liked the ZRi better.

Things I liked about ES100:
-Curb protection
-Price (I think it was cheaper)
-Dry Grip

Things I didn't like about ES100:
-Wear (I got ~15k miles, rotated them 2 or 3 times)
-Violent transition from grip to no grip

Things I like about ZRi:
-I think the tread pattern is cooler
-Wet grip was better than ES100
-Smoother transition at the limit

Things I didn't like:
-Dry grip was slightly worse

Edit: If you're looking for a good dry grip tires - I think the Hankook Ventus RS-2 comes in the 225/245 combo you want.

245 is the widest I'd run on that 8" wheel and it's not available in that beautiful ASX model, I visited Tirerack...they mostly have track tires in that size
